The roots of Italcarrelli date back to 1962, when Mr. A. Negrin’s entrepreneurial ability identified the forklift as an essential product for industry. In 1969 the first electronic forklift were built; it was an innovative product for the time, which marked a significant step forward for the company on the market, as the demand for this type of forklift trucks exceeded the demand for diesel engine forklifts, within a very short time.

Towards the end of the 1970s, the first special machines, such as side-loading forklifts for the wood industry and self-propelled platform transporters for heavy loads, were introduced.
The high level of reliability of these prototypes marked the beginning of a period of constant growth in demand in the special machines sector. At the same time, the company began to expand its market beyond national borders and to export its forklifts to Europe and overseas.

During the eighties, the high demand for forklifts and special machines could hardly be met by the headquarters in Chiampo. In addition, Asian competitors imposed the search for solutions to achieve more competitive prices, while maintaining the same level of quality.
It was therefore necessary to renew the company structure to adapt it to these new market requirements.

This intervention also led to the change of the name of the company in ITALCARRELLI and to remodel the headquarters in Chiampo, introducing cutting-edge machinery and equipment and adapting the systems of quality and safety of work as required by the new CE standards.
Since 1995, the headquarters of Chiampo is dedicated exclusively to the design and construction of special machines.

At its headquarters in Chiampo, many special machines are continuously produced for a wide variety of sectors, such as foundries, steelworks and glassworks. The glass industry soon became a core business for Italcarrelli, a dedicated business unit was created, the ITALCARRELLI Glass Division, completely dedicated to research, development and production of special machines for handling flat glass.

Throughout the decade, significant investments are made in automation with the development of autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), increasingly in demand in the market for handling large and heavy loads. This demonstrates the commitment to remain competitive and meet customer needs in an ever-evolving industry.
